Digital Photography: A to Z (Part 02)

 B

BaudBaud:
A unit of measurement for data transmission rate, which synonymous to symbols per second or pulse per second. And Baud named after the French engineer, Baudot.

Binary Nunber
Binary Number:
This is the name given to representation system of numbers consisting solely of the figures 0 and 1. just like the ten-figure decimal system (0-9), in the binary system, larger numbers are made up by combining the numbers 0 and 1.

Bios
Bios:
Stands for Basic Input/ Output System, also known as the System BIOS or ROM BIOS and describes the basic program of a computer. The BIOS software is built into the PC, and is the first code run by a PC when powered on.

Bit
Bit:
Binary digit. The smallest digit unit that can show only two states 0 and 1. 8 bits produce 1 byte. It is the basic unit of information in computing and telecommunication; it is the amount of information stored by a digital device or other physical system that exists in one of two possible distinct states (flip-flop).

Bit Depth
Bit Depth:
Color Depth.

Bitmap
Bitmap:
It is a type of memory organization or image file format used to store digital image. In which each bit in the computer's memory corresponds to one dot on the screen or printer.

Bloom
Blooming:
The opposite of Noise; an image error that has been more of less eradicated in the newer digital cameras. It describes the "overflow" of electrical charges between the individual sensors on a CCD element.

Bluebox
Bluebox:
A process  known from television and movie productions. Actors stand in front of a colored wall, usually painted blue. Later, a different background is put in for the blue areas on the recorded image, giving the impression that the actors are e.g. on top of a mountain, although they never left the studio.

bpsbps:
Bits per Second. Refers to the number of bits transferred in one second. The bps notation is often found on modems and serial interface.

BrowserBrowser:Describes a program used to display information, especially on the Internet.

Bug
Bug:
Describes a programming error. This can be removed by correction or rewriting the program codes. (Patch)

Bug Fix
Bug-Fix:
Removing a software error by means of a small additional program.

Byte
Byte:
Binary data packet made up of 8 bits. A byte can represent values between 0 and 255. It can depict 256 symbols, numbers or colors. In the computer field, larger byte size is described using the prefix letter for the abbreviation of the exponent of 2. Therefore,1 Kilobyte = 1KB = 1,024 bytes
1 Megabyte = 1MB = 1,048,576 bytes
1 Gigabyte = 1GB = 1,073,741,824 bytes
1 Terabyte = 1TB = 1,099,511,627,776 bytes
